This man was known as the gentle giant. He was a power forward who quietly revolutionized the game. He was a huge man that stood in front of the net and scored while taking a beating from 2 d-men. His size couldn't be contained so the hacked at him crossed checked him and went at his knees. The hacked away until the mighty oak fell. After Kerr came Neely, Tocchet, Stevens etc. etc. Now its Lindros, LeClair, Tkchuck, Gratton etc. He wasnt flashy so he never recieved national headlines. He had a total of 15 artroscopic surgeries in his shoulders and knees. Still the man never hacked back. He just did his job and moved on. If he had a mean streak he might have had 5 more productive years. He was one of the most deadly power play players of all time and he still holds a the NHL record for most power play goals in a year-34. He had 4 straight 50 goal seasons the only Flyer to accomplish that feat. He is in the Flyer Hall of Fame deservingly so, but #12 should be in the rafters for no one else to wear. He played through a ton of adversity, as is to say 15 surgeries aren't enough, his wife died during the 1988-89 season and the man kept on. He was a strong man that was the first of his kind and he possesed one of the most lethal wrist shots of all time. To me the man is a legend, and should have his number retired. In the seventies it was Bobby Clarke, in the 90's its the big E, but the 80's belonged to Timmy. He carried a team of young unknown players to the Stanley Cup twice. He was unsuccesful both times but the teams he went against were some of the best all time. He would bleed orange and black and stood for everything that was Philadelphia. Even more the man still lives in the Philadelphia area. I think its time for Timmy to get the respect he deserves!
